Practical approaches to implementing community services

The course will provide practical preparation for effective implementation of community services or strengthening the community character of services. It focuses on tailoring help and support to people’s individual needs and their capabilities and preferences for integration into mainstream community life. We will also focus on working with families and other close people and multidisciplinary collaboration.

For whom the course is intended

The course is intended mainly for social workers and social service workers, social service managers and possibly for other professionals working in social services.

What you will take away from the course

The course combines theory with practical training so that you can put your new skills into practice immediately. By completing it you will gain:

  • Tools for developing social relationships and promoting active participation of clients in the community.
  • Understanding the community social services model.
  • Understanding of the principles of client involvement in working life, education and leisure activities.
  • Practical tools for mapping client needs and preferences and planning individual support in the community.
  • Practical practices on how to work effectively with families and the community.
  • An understanding of the nature and importance of multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Knowledge of the principles of fostering the development of social relationships and strengthening the active involvement of disadvantaged people in the community.

You will also take away learning materials, smart templates for practical use and links to other study materials.

Teaching content

  • Models of community services and support arrangements for community living.
  • Individual care (support) plan including the basics of needs and preferences mapping.
  • Basic principles of cooperation and case work.
  • Key tools and practices for community inclusion.

Scope and form of training, number of participants

The course is held in full-time form in the scope of 8 teaching hours in one day. Max. the number of participants is 18.

The course is accredited by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic, no. Accreditation: A2024/1630-SP/PC/VP/PP.
